Description:
The Pharaoh Hound is an elegant and ancient sighthound, believed to be one of the oldest domesticated breeds. Known for its graceful build, amber eyes, and unique ability to “blush” when excited, it was traditionally used in Malta for hunting rabbits. The breed is affectionate with family and alert in nature, though it retains a strong prey drive and independent streak.

Best Suited For:

  • Active owners or families with secure outdoor space
  • Homes that enjoy training and outdoor activities
  • Those seeking a graceful, athletic, and loyal companion

Less Suitable For:

  • Cold climates without adequate warmth
  • Homes with small pets (due to prey drive)
  • First-time owners unprepared for a sighthound’s independence
