Description:
The Pyrenean Sheepdog (Smooth-Faced), or Berger des Pyrénées à Face Rase, is a rarer variety of the traditional French herding breed. It features a short-haired face with a lively expression, a semi-long coat elsewhere, and a square, athletic build. Bred for speed and endurance in mountainous terrain, it is quick-witted and thrives on physical and mental activity. This loyal, people-oriented breed needs a job to do and responds well to structured training.

Best Suited For:

  • Experienced owners with active lifestyles
  • Homes that can offer regular exercise and training
  • Environments with space to run and tasks to keep it mentally engaged

Less Suitable For:

  • First-time dog owners
  • Sedentary households or small living spaces
  • Owners unable to commit time to daily exercise and stimulation
